I have a JL sub, not quite sure what model because it was given to me by my uncle. All I know is it's 10 or 12 inches, housed in a huge box. My question is, should I get a 500/1 amp to power it or a 1000watt alpine? They are near the same price

  1. find the rms of the sub and stay at that rms when looking for a amp...find that sub u got somehow on the internet and find out its power capabilities to know what amp to put on it....jls r way better but r also way more expensive

  2. Well, that depends on the impedance of the sub.  You might end up with the same amount of power.  the 500/1 is a good amp, but the Alpine may be better depending on the sub.

  3. 1000 watt alpine

  4. The first thing you need to do is find out what model the sub is, and its specs. Depending on the model, both amps may be too much power. If you put too much power to it then you have wasted a perfectly good sub by blowing it up. Now as far as the amps, they will both produce clean sound as long as they get it from a good source. If the sub can handlle it, i would get the most for my money and go with the Alpine.

  5. yeah take the sub out of the box and read whats on the back of it then repost and we can help you better
