With a passport.. can i go all over France??

I heard you had to ask for permission to go to certain areas.. is this true?

Of course you can go wherever you like with the obvious exception of military bases and other secure places - as you would expect in any country.  

When I was younger I was stopped a few times by the police and asked for ID which would not have been the case in the UK. I think I am right in saying that it is mandatory to carry some form of ID which for most French people would be their carte d'identite or for a foreigner, their passport.

I always thought the only place you couldn't go to was North Korea, I'm pretty sure you can visit almost any place in France. I took a trip to France and usually they warn you about stuff like that but we never got a warning.. I could be wrong!! I'll check back on this question to see if anyone else knows!! Cool Question!!!

No it is not true, you can travel anywhere in France with your passport.  Even to the isle of Corsica.

In fact your passport will take you anywhere in Europe.

Of course you can, this is a democracy, not the ancient USSR or North Korea.

The only places you cannot go to are the governmental buildings  noone is allowed to visit and military areas no non military is allowed to go to.

Of course you also cannot enter private properties without permission, but I'm sure you can't in your country either.

no problems ,you may go where you want in france with your passport ,(out of army sites and so like the frenchmen !)
