it just got me thinking. Have their been any times a track or car has been hit by lightning? I'm sure I've read somewhere there has been, but for the life of me I just can't remember!!!

  1. Dunno about lightning but the 1991 Australian GP only lasted 14 laps due to monsoon weather!

  2. That's not a pleasant thought when I remember the old Silverstone stands made of scaffolding and wood !

  3. lol the top gear link. i've seen that like 5 times :)

i don't think there will be one. rain maybe. little chance tho.

    kimi on pole :)

  4. A bit of wet weather, makes a race now

Shows the skill and commitment of a driver and the faith of the car beneath him

All this dry weather stuff, and Fia restrictions and pit lane closed stuff is spoiling it ( for me anyway)

Ok have a engine restriction on size .... but thats it

if it needs an engine to run two races OK

but if it breaks a box....  stick a new one in

Next year,  there will be a restriction on new nose cones

    only one spare each team

Only joking....  but  who  "NOSE"  ??

  5. I'd like to see that happen. I wonder which part of the car attracts lightning the most.  If it did happen, i bet the FIA would come up with all sorts of new safety measures to prevent it happening again even though it would probably never happen again.

  6. Not sure if it's possible but extremely unlikely in the least, a lightning would have lots of far better choices than an F1 car, including lightning conductors at the circuit.

I've never heard of something like that happening but I haven't looked around the net to be honest.
