With a runner on and 2 outs with the score 1-0 would you walk the no. 8 batter if?

If the other team only had 8 players thus requiring them to take an out when the 9th batter comes up. Is it chicken to do this?

Only National Federation rules allow for a team to drop to eight players in a game without forfeiting. You can't play with eight players in the pros, college, Little League, American Legion, etc.

So to narrow the question to National Federation rules (high school), there is nothing wrong at all with going for the automatic out. That's the price the opposing team pays for not bringing enough players.

depends what inning. no i wont walk the hitter cuz the 8 hitter is batting 8th 4 a reason and ill also get a chance to pitch the next inning with the 9 hitter starting.

If a team only had 8 players, how would they play defense?  I don't think any organized league would allow the game to take place at all.

The rules are the rules.  Why risk giving up a hit to the #8 hitter when you can avoid him altogether?  It's not chicken to do this, it's rather poor "staffing" by the other team to only have 8 players available.

Well, if this was like a little league game or a minor league game, i wouldnt walk the batter.  But if it was the majors(and for some reason outta 40 players, 32 of them cant play) then i would walk the batter. Becuz its the Big Leagues and the other team should be able to have 9 men in uniform.

I think the team who are without 9 players are automically disqualified from the game and even before the at-bat.  Because defensive wise it is illegal.  

But to answer your question, yea i would just pitch to the guy when in the lower leagues, because you wanna teach the kids good sportmanship, nothing more important you can learn when growing.
