With all that money the DNC just spent, could they have done more with it by giving it to the homeless?

By all accounts the stage for Obama was $500,000.

Was that the best way to spend money? Seems reckless when you claim to uphold the values of those poor people....maybe a reckless spending policy is just what Obama has in mind for the Treasury?

I hope not. But they could have spent all those millions better and more productively supporting those less fortunate. Eating out at expensive restaurants as the taxpayer expense is just one more way they can live off the taxpayer.....which is really their goal in life!

The Republican convention will be much more modest than the Democratic one.  Democrats are careless with money,  Republicans (at least conservative ones) try to spend money wisely and make sure it is spent responsibly,  Of course there are several Republicans who act more like Democrats than Republicans.

the republicans are actually curtailing the event due to the huricane. They are also spending some mone to send delegates back home to be/take care of their families. Democrats just spent millions to watch obama speak in a sports arena. Didn't they do the same for Hitler at the olympic stadium in Berlin?

I'm sorry is this some sort of attack on Obama...? Because i'm pretty sure McCain's convention will be high-priced, after all... they are politicians. Is owning an uncountable amount of homes a good way to spend money? No, but clearly it works for John and Cindy. And in the end, who are you to tell anyone how to spend their money? Shouldn't you take the money you spent on using an internet service to slander a politician and donate it to charity? If you are going to make an insult, think about it carefully before sending it out into the universe.

Benchmark moments in history are worth spending money on. And that money is spent to vendors, hotels, etc., who all employee lots of people to put on a convention like that. People who donate money to a candidate expect it to be spent on the campaign and convention. If the wanted to donate to the poor they would do so.

That would assume a very extreme position of Democrats of which they believe all money should go to the poor, which is not the case.  It is possible to have a convention and do that with political donations, and at the same time help the homeless with funds donated for that purpose or with public funds.

To help your fellow man you do not have to live a paupers life, or give up every good thing.

Mega churches do this same thing all the time, yet still manage to have programs for the poor etc.   Without the stages....no money comes in.  Spend some to make some and all that c**p LOL.
