McCain is a neocon & he doesn't understand the economy and hence he also does not understand security. The Iranians are being very clever here; they're not rushing to Russia's defense unless Russia comes to them & asks for their help, and then they can ask for something in return.That may include anything from the accelerated completion of the long-delayed Bushehr nuclear plant, to providing advanced antiaircraft systems (something that Syria has already asked Moscow to provide in the wake of Damascus' public support for the Russian intervention), to full membership in the Sino-Russian-sponsored Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a defense group that is coincidentally holding its annual summit in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, this week.;-p

Teheran's leverage is not just confined to its status, along with Turkey's, as the most powerful nation in a strategically critical neighborhood inhabited by relatively weak U.S.-backed buffer states like Georgia. During the Cold War and until the 1979 Revolution, after all, Iran served as Washington's most important bulwark against Soviet influence in the Gulf. Iran is a peaceful nation.. that just happens to openly support terrorism, hold massive rallies where it calls for genocide and all the while it's building nuclear weapons.

But beyond that, there is no connection between Russia's aggressions and crime in Georgia with Iran's Jihadist/nuclear ambitions.

Americans want peace, but there are certain areas in the world that dont want us to live peacefully.  We should never back down from defending ourselves.  Obama is an appeaser and is willing to compromise with people that hate us.  How is that good for America?

No doubt GWB engaged in too much diplomacy with Putin, he should have nuked Russia, everybody knows Russia is just evil; but GWB gave Putin a chance, and now look what happened.  Ahmadinejad is a better tool of US policy.  No doubt it was GWB who caused Ahmadinejad to assist in the 1979 invasion of the US Embassy in Iran, and holding US hostages there.  Now you may say that that was in the past, but Ahmadinejad is now President, and I haven't heard that he regrets this action.

Probably GW Bush told him to keep up the good work.  Bush and Ahmadinejad secretly drink together.  So don't worry, everything is fine; they just want to create the appearance of conflict.
