All the volcanoes that have been erupting since the world began, surely the inside of the planet Earth is going to run out of material that lava is made of. Will the Earth implode in itself ?

  1. No it won't implode but it causes a lot of pollution and may have some effect on global warming.

  2. What an interesting thought! Yes what would happen?

10 points for an exellent question.

  3. No.

Plate Tectonics is all about the movement of the earth's plates where all the landmasses we live on and all the oceans are on.

These plates are moving about on the "sea" of magma underneath. Some are moving towards each other, some away, some along side. The ones that move towards each other either create mountains such as the Himalayas or subduction zones where one plate is pushed below the other. When this happens, the intense friction and the heat of the magma below serves to melt/destroy the plate that is being pushed underneath thereby creating more magma.

Have a look at the site below for a thorough explanation:

  4. No, rock is recycled on a vast conveyer belt known as plate tectonics.

  5. New magma is being constantly created, so the volcanoes are never going to run out of material.
