  1. lol.. I could enter that ;)

  2. why not ~there's room now that softballs to be removed.

how about indoor hang gliding.or even uphill sking in the winter games.

  3. maybe...in a few decades.

  4. GGL Global Gaming lobbied to have video gaming included as a demonstration event at the Beijing games but it never got off the ground. Apparently there was some type of deal done to have a gaming event in Shanghai with some Olympics branding but I've not heard if it went ahead.

Will it ever be an official Olympic sport? Who can say? The sports have gradually changed over the years (I really wish they still had tug-o-war though!!) and perhaps one day video gaming will have the critical mass required to be included.

Personally I'm looking forward to the Women's Wii Fit competition! ;)

  5. It'll make it more interesting. By Duke75's definition politics is a sport, so is war.

  6. Well, the Olympics apparently take this definition of sport as the decider for whether a sport should be included in the Olympics:  "

...involving activities having formally recorded histories and traditions, stressing physical exertion through competition within limits set in explicit and formal rules governing role and position relationships, and carried out by participants who represent or who are part of formally organized associations having the goal of achieving valued tangibles or intangibles through defeating opposing groups."

So you could say that gaming has the goal of achieving valued tangibles or intangibles through defeating opposing groups (as long as you're playing against a human opponent I suppose).  But there would need to be a federation officially recognised by the IOC and formal rules set out and abided by.  Plus I don't think you could say that gaming "stresses physical exertion", even with the Wii.

  7. All the games in the olympics are sports.

A sport is a game with a defined set of rules and a competitive element.
