As we see, we have done alot of damage to the earth, weather it's driving out cars with gas, littering, not recycling etc.....

I hear that now in the North Pole some ice has even melted, however if we all stopped NOW! and toke care of our earth, could we REVERSE the damage or would we only be preventing further damage?

  1. To save our environment from global warming, pollution and mitigate the adverse effects following points are discussed:

    1. Do everything to reduce carbon emission into atmosphere. I think, proper energy mix is to be adopted by every country, so that carbon emission into the atmosphere is reduced. In my opinion, energy mix should include Nuclear power, Power by Clean coal technology (Green coal), Hydro-power wherever possible and to some extent energy from renewable sources like Wind and Solar (The main constraint with wind and solar energy is energy density is much less).

    2. Use less fossil powered car and vehicle. Instead, rely on hybrid. Use public vehicles.

    3. Reduction of population is the most important. For reduction of population, whatever possible is to be done. In my opinion, the remedy of overpopulation lies on religious leaders, politicians and social leaders. Most of the religious leaders’ views are not realistic on birth control.

    4. Publicize the awareness of various mode of pollution and measures to mitigate the problems.

  2. nyet. as long as america refuses to destroy it's constitution, and take a vow of poverty, working only to enrich third world countries, communist governments and the united nations while living in squallor and pestolence, it will be a dire polluter and destroyer of the earth.

  3. That's the million dollar question. Some scientists say that climate change and global warming are caused by man and others say it's natural or that it isn't happening at all.

What I do believe to be true, it doesn't matter if those theories are accurate or not. We are using our recources at an unsustainable rate, and we are creating an increasingly toxic environment with our pollution.

We each need to take a hard look at how we affect the earth. The pesticides used to grow our food, the fossil fuels used to ship it to your local grocer. The chemicals in our cleaners, furniture and building products. The raw materials it takes to create everyting we use and how they are manufactured. Everything we do, buy or use has an effect on the planet.

I am striving for a more sustainable life. I buy most of my food from local ranches and farms, I'm increasing the amount of things I grow at my home. I am eliminating my water hungry lawn. I use less electricity and am installing solar panels. I buy less and waste less.

I'm getting involved with my sons school earth club to help them become more aware. I volunteer at my cities utility exploration center and am getting involved with a few environmental groups. We all have a choice, It's time to think about the future and get involved.

  4. My idea is that we will never be able to reverse the damage we have done. Best case scenario is that we become aware of the damage we are doing, stop doing it and let the earth heal itself over a very long time. The earth will survive, the question is will we be able to live on it once it recovers.
