With an Oyster Card, can I travel through zone 1 as long as I enter and exit in zone 2?

Hi,

I have a zone 2-4 student Oyster card, and I am wondering if I need to go from Canary Wharf to Willesden Green across the city, will the machine stop me at Willesden Green because I have travelled through zone 1? What about if I had purchased a paper ticket that you run through the machine?

They don't check things that close. As long as they have the money thats all they care about.
