With an impending 2nd United States Depression, how will city people survive?

Are there any US cities preparing for this? Are there any US city communities organizing? And what are you doing to prepare for hard times in the city, other than panicking; planning on stealing; and harming others? Would you be willing to help organize your community to help each other out? There are many lawns that can be transformed into edible gardens. And for those who don't know how to garden, they can welcome gardeners to grow in their yards and barter for their services. Please add your ideas on how to survive in the city. Peace. Deborah M.

And for those who need a source, you can google "2nd Great Depression" and look for YouTube videos for more insight. Thanks.

  1. The answers above mine, with the notable exception of boss, should give you a good idea of "how" or if, they will survive. I, too, live in  a city, and am concerned about what I see taking place. I do not subscribe to the "survivalist mentality" hunkering down in the mountains, waiting out the riots with my dawg and my sawrd-ahff shawt guun, that sh*t is just too out there. but I really don't know, I don't think its going to be just a US depression, but a worldwide collapse, like a house of cards. What concerns me is the aftermath, what will rise in the vaccuum.....that's very scary to contemplate. I hate to be the pessimist, but I think we will look back on the last century with nostalgia, thats how bad its going to be.    to the moron who posted above me, go back to sleep, its all a bad dream. what do mean "what source? Dude!! you are going to be one of the first to die with that attitude. Wake up!

  10. I live in a medium sized Canadian city and i see how the state of world is going have an effect on everyone who isn't prepared, i am a survivalist and i have a plan in place to survive future hardships, the only way people are going to survive is by having a plan in place for an emergency, heck even having a couple boxes of canned food & some water purification tablets put aside will help, but most people are content with the way the government handles things and that will be there downfall, they should be relying on themselves to be prepared.

  11. City people are going to have to rely on FEMA, which means we're pretty much screwed.

Start your Victory Gardens on the patios and balconies now!  :-)

  12. apparently, some of the people who are choosing to post answers to your question, have not watched the news or read the newspapers.   I.E. rising cost of oil; closure of production plants; 4 million acres of farmland and crops wiped out during the past week due to rain and flooding in the midwest.

my guess is that they'll make no effort to conserve our resources or to live more sensibly because they will depend on their local governments to take care of their needs for clean drinking water and food.

In short, some won't survive at all and the ones who do will be miserable and caught completely off guard and will be begging the hillbillies to send food and whining because their city leaders can't arrange to get food and water shipped in fast enough.
