iam a lefty. I have trouble on dogleg rights. Unintentionally, I always line up or feel that Iam too close to the ball. My mind is always aiming straight ahead not right.

i just figured out, that the ball has been too far back,in turn closing my shoulders, which produces an inside out swing.

I thought only an open, outside in swing caused a slice.

or-Are a push and slice not related. I figured a push was a mini slice.

  1. most or the time a push and slice are caused by that type of swing but it also depends on whether your club face was square upon impact

  2. Nope. The push and slice are not related. The only similarity is that the clubface is open in both. A push is when the ball is cought in the wrong part of your swing, same with a pull. A slice however, is when the clubpath follows an outside to in pattern, putting sidespin and backspin on the ball. A hook is the opposite, it's an inside to out swing that puts sidespin but very little vertical spin on the ball. That is why hooks are so much more drastic. If you are having problems working the ball on doglegs right, just get the ball in play. You might not want to take the hero shot in hopes of scoring. Try this on the range. Take a normal stance and just put your left foot back. Keep your shoulders on plane and swing away. This will create the draw you are looking for. Take a look at this video. It will show you better.

  3. A pull and a slice normally go hand in hand as do a push and a hook.  An inside out swing will cause the ball to start left (for a left hander).  It will then curve right, left, or stay straight depending on what the clubface did thru impact.
