Question:

With braces, the gum between my teeth is gone?

Between my front teeth, I've always had this tiny gap. My gum grew halfway into the gap, which had been normal for me. Then, when I got braces, the orthodontist closed the gap by tightening the wire enough. So the gum between my front teeth basically got squeezed behind my front teeth. There's this bit of gum all squeezed behind me teeth because the gap was closed... It FEELS swollen and red (i'm not sure if it's because of the pain from the braces)... Is this normal? Because I'm sure that many people who've had braces and gaps in their teeth had SOME amount of gum between the teeth. If it is normal, where will the gum go? Thanks in advance for any helpful answers.

  3. pink m said it. Yes, I've had the same thing happen with my braces, with the gap of my two front teeth the gum between DOES feel like its gonna break off because it really feels squished and painfull. But dont worry; its normal.

  4. This is very normal,

It is just irritated from all the pressure.

Try not to mess with it and it'll go way soon.

    Good luck.
