With eyes on bullpen, Texas Rangers are not overlooking offence – MLB News
The Texas Rangers expressed their hope on Tuesday, November 22 that they will eventually re-sign C. J. Wilson hours after Joe Nathan was contracted for two years. The Rangers believe the bullpen is not complete, as yet.
On Tuesday, the Texas Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels stated that although the club is comfortable with the rotation currently, there are still few things that can make it better.
"We're comfortable with the rotation we have now, but if there is something out there that will make us better, we'll look at it," said general manager Jon Daniels.
He was obviously referring to retaining C. J. Wilson, a recent free-agent. While there are a number of teams who want to get a contract with the ace pitcher, the Rangers are focused on him since he empowers the bullpen.
With Joe Nathan becoming a part of the rotation and Feliz going up, having the space to start Wilson in the team will strengthen the Texas Rangers’ defence as their offence continues to give their best in the games.
Nonetheless, focusing on the defence will not be done at the expense of the offence. The Rangers certainly eye that as well. The strained left wrist of the Rangers’ Mitch Moreland is a worry that the team want to resolve.
Daniels believes he is all set to play. "Mitch is the guy," Daniels said. "The big thing is making sure his wrist is 100 percent. Assuming it is, it's his job. We're going to check out everything, but we're comfortable where we're at."
Mitch could only remain 10 at-bats in the post-season, having had a hit and an RBI to his credit. During the regular season, Mitch had 134 game played, having 464 at-bats, with 120 hits to his credit and 16 home-runs, hitting 51 RBIs with a .259 average
and a .414 SLG record.
With the focus on the bullpen and having an eye on the offence as well, the Texas Rangers want to build up as strong a team as they had this year to make their way into the World Series.
