  1. Its simple supply and demand, developing nations (China, India) are demanding more high quality food. So there are more people competing over the same amount of produce. This means prices go up.

As supply starts to go up to fulfill demand (by better farming techniques, and GM produce) then the price will go down.

But the bottom line is that the age of dirt cheap food is on its way out.

  2. They usually only go down when the situation is desperate in a country that there is no alternative to reduce them.

Shops arent going to reduce prices whilst they can benefit themselves more than the customer.

They will go down probably while the recession that is so evendently coming has been in for some time.

    Unfortunately!!

  3. i think the only reason food prices are going up is due to the price of gas, it is costing more to get the food where it has to be.so i hope it goes down but gas has been so expensive the last few years, i cant imagine it going down much.

  4. No.  The costs of producing food are complex and unavoidable.  Better get used to it...

  5. When we have a President who is not an oil millionare maybe he or she can do something to help bring down fuel prices which are driving up prices on almost all consumer costs.I do realize that a President alone can't fix the oil problems. It will take bi-partisan cooperation between the President,Congress, and Senate and problems in other parts of the world we can't always change.Make sure to vote and hope for the best.

  6. Food here is incredibly cheap considering what it cost in past times.  Just be grateful you don't live in a country where food is scarce.  You were lucky to be born in such a prosperous and affluent country with plenty of choices of food in every supermarket

  7. No, and whether or not you're a bible reader, you may find it interesting to note that the scriptures prophesied the high cost of food. Revelation 6:6 says, regarding these times in which we live, that a "denarius" would be the cost for 3 quarts of barley (not the tastiest grain) and for a loaf of bread, so things are going to get worse.  Gas prices aren't going to go back down to $2 per gallon, nor will milk.

If you have any place to grow a garden, find out what to plant and when so you can offset the rising food prices.  Here's an article on organic gardening. http://www.watchtower.org/e/20020322/art...

  8. There is an economic crisis. In fact, the prime minister in economics in Mexico was just taken out, to be replaced by a less experienced man in economics but with a degree in industry.

The U.S, for example, needs to reduce mass-production and underpricing. 10 years ago, India and China consumed very little meat ( a price that's soaring): Now that there's 2 more billion people consuming in the meat market enterprises need to adjust because there'll come a time when their won't be enough food. The thing is, as theirs more consumers, theirs less cattle to kill, per say, because there's no time to raise. The prices are soaring to reduce consuming.

It might go down very little, with climate change comming.

  9. I doubt it.

Too much money to be made.
