  1. Well it would probably make a slight difference in price temporarily. Unfortunately experts have gone back and had a look at coal reserves and see that there is only about 25 years of good coal left (rather than 150 - 200 years). Places like Germany have updated their coal reserves and have decreased their coal reserves by 90%! which is A LOT. Also As someone else mentioned the carbon emmisions would be massive. Coal is a lot more dirty than Gas. Converting houses to use coal again would probably take more energy than you would save from the switch over because of the amount of building...materials..and electricity used. Quite a lot of people have GAS cookers..so i don't see how you could replace that.

It may be worth for you just to change your house around to be able to use coal just because you get it free. Make sure that your mine has plenty of coal left before you do so. You don't want  end up converting your house and then for one reason or another stop getting free coal. This would save you a lot of money, but for most people it would be a pointless process

    Hope this has helped.

  2. sort of - but the pollution would be unbelievable

save the environment and all that - carbon emmissions

  3. The council houses where I grew up had coal fires, but really lazy people kept buying them up and putting gas heating in. Convenience is always generally more expensive. For example, its h**l of a lot more expensive to eat at a restaurant than prepare and cook a meal at home.

Gas is more convenient than coal, because you don't have to prepare a fire every day, get the chimney cleaned etc and there's no hazard with sparks from gas fires.

I think one day it will be cheaper to go back to go back to coal, because people are generally lazy and would rather use gas and just moan about the increases in prices. It's like with petrol, how many could cycle rather than use the car, but there too lazy too so they'd rather use the car and slag off Gordon Brown.

  4. probably would, but most modern houses havnt got chimneys built in, and a lot of those that have, have been blocked off, cant beat a real coal fire though eh, i would probably sell the telly and watch the fire all night, and cook crumpets on a toasting fork like when i was a kid

  5. I've got a coal fire and i only spend about £30 a month on coal (eggs)

If i keep it at that all through the year, i have a nice pile come the winter

  6. The price of coal will also rise, but nevertheless I am going back to using it.

It looks warmer and once lit one can put timber on , OMG we are heading back to the dark ages!

  7. According to the media, gas prices are not going down anytime soon. There are other alternatives otherthan building a car or using other natural resources I happen to have done some research on the topic and found where this guy Oliver South convereted his BMW to water gas fuel. He has a video that shows step by step how anyone can do this. There is also a review website that I found in my research that covered  a few other companies that are doing the same thing. You might want  to check the review site at http://waterfuelconversion.googlepages.c...
