With gas prices projected to double within the next 18 months, how are you planning to budget for it?

My family will be able to afford it - even if the prices double.

But in order to do so we'll have to do without many luxuries and unessential things.

There will be millions of families like this. And if they all have to budget like this it will be very bad for the economy.

What will you do to handle massive increases in gas prices orver the next year or so?

  1. I carpooled then switched to a more gas efficient car...

Canceled my Fly to VA this year to travel locally

and with food and everything else costing more I'm spending smarter ....Boycott credit cards...I pay cash now or trade & share with people

I think everyone should Carpool or boycott 1 day of driving to use less and show the oil barons we do no need to take their price gouging.... nothing but thieves

  2. No way to cope with that.

  3. Prices are suppose to be coming down a bit. I read this three page article about how they found oil in the arctic (which we can now reach do to global warming) apparently there is four times as much as there then there is in Kuwait. So, i'm looking forward to that, In the mean time its between the US and 4 other countries working out a way to divide it up...I hope this helps for some one out there, i know when i read this i was relieved.

  4. looks like a good time to get another job

  5. Thank God we make enough money that I don;t have to use the "b" word!!! Gas guzzling HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Try to earn more money, that's all.

  7. First of all noone really knows if gas prices in US will actually double, but at 4.00dlrs a gallon already I have decided what and how to spend money I do have.    I am looking at priorities first food, then other bills such as mortgage, then electric bill and then car payments and then micilanious bills.   I am definently driving less and not planning any trips anywhere at this time.     I really feel sorry for the restauraunts thier staff will feel effects first.   Tips at 15% when I do go out are going to go down to about 10% and I will not be the only one changing.   Eating out where plates start at $10 per person or higher,....I dont think so.   I am starting to feel that the $5 sub at Subway is looking like a great night out with the wife instead of a $45 outing at say a nice steak place or mexican food.   I also will stay home way more and eat out less.    Last thing those aholes from Direct Buy just called while blogging this....they only call me once a day and I finnnaly stopped answering phone.   Those people are sharks and sharks eventually die.      Cant wait to new strip malls that have just been built in many areas falling into the forclosure market for having places that sell beer for dogs at 20dlrs a 6 pack and junk made a buck not sells for 40 bucks.   If all this does not work we can walk and try for a second job if there are any jobless rate just went up.   sorry spell checker on blitz and so am I

  8. We plans trips in a circle to save gas and limit where we go, planning to do major shopping in one stop.  No quick trips for fast food or to the quicky mart.

  9. Besides trying to earn more money, I would get a hybrid and motorcycle. And try not to drive unless I have to. Move to a home that is close to shopping schools and the gym, and use a golf cart to take mini trips like grocery stores. right now we waste alot of gas driving our son to school and work. One thing we'll do is either enroll him in a school that is close to home or live closer to his current school. The great thing about everything is my husbands work is close to his school so we will be moving closer to them the end of this year.
