  1. yes I think it was a big mistake.   time should have been taken to be sure it was as fool proof safe as possible but it should have been pursued.   Do you think maybe the oil co.s had a hand in that decision????

  2. Yes, this was a waste..we are the laughingstock of the world

  3. No, nuclear power is the most expensive type of power there is, and we would now have dozens of aging nuclear plants that cost billions to decommission producing ever more of the world's most dangerous waste. Nuclear power is not some magic answer to our energy problems, it's an incredibly expensive stop gap measure that gifts future generations with incredibly toxic waste.

Not pursuing other alternate power decades ago, and especially not pursuing the use of power economically (by like building fleets of gas guzzling SUVs as just one example) is what got us into this mess.

  4. There was no nuclear power plant ban in the sixties.

  5. A ban on new nuclear power plants was stupid.  If we replaced our natural gas powered electrical generating plants with nuclear we could use natural gas as a transportation fuel and eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.  Also we could replace our coal power plants and vastly reduce our carbon dioxide output.

  6. carbon emissions versus nuclear waste

i think we are screwed no matter what we do

  7. The you think they y said they have banned them but get smart, really do yothink they really got rid all of them? I dont.  Aprilu

  8. the bleeding heart enviromentalist should be tarred and feathered. surely they dont have cars, electric lights or electrical appliances. a true EV would do without these fuel burning gadgets.

  9. Hindsight or foresight, it was a mistake.  Put the things in Nebraska and North Dakota.

  10. It was right to stop and be cautious but it went on to long and left America way behind the rest of the world.

Indeed whilst France is probably the leader in atomic power stations now America is actually buying a new type of nuclear reactor from South Africa!!!!
