  1. I heard during his game against Blake that his parents change coaches very frequently because of really stupid reasons. If his parents are who are managing his career then he will not move from the 100 in ranking.  He should get a pro coach.

  2. What talent?

  3. I think it may have to do with his  parents. It seems to me sometimes that parents of young players are jealous of their "territory" and don't want others having too much influence on their kids. I think it is very unfortunate because they could be seriously hampering his career. When I heard that he was invited to train with Nadal and declined, I wonder if it was Donald who declined or his parents. A pro coach, someone who is less emotionally involved would be good for him.

  4. Wow if Rafa asked Donald to train with him in Spain that was a huge opportunity wasted LOL. Even John Mcenroe has said that he'll never get better unless he gets himself a real coach. I mean Donald seems to be improving with each year he gains more experience on the ATP tour but I think maybe having his parents as coach's is holding him back. Maybe he believes nobody can teach him better than his parents, but he needs a coach to show him how to harness his skills and get on him about certain things. But he's still a teenager and he'll get into his own soon enough.

  5. This guy has a lot of potential and with a great experienced coach he could in fact become America's next great hope. Heaven knows they need this these days. Anyway personally my impression of Donald Young is similar to a lot of the American players we have seen in the recent past. It just seems that they are all in the sport for the fame and fortune that will come their way, off the court, rather than put in the work needed to achieve any measure of success. Just look at Donald when he first came about last year. (the twisted cap on the head; the earrings on the ear.) It just seemed that this guy clearly had other things on his mind rather than what was taking place on a tennis court.

He has a lot of maturing to do before he fulfills that raw talent he possesses. I believe he lacks discipline, focus and commitment to really achieve what he is capable of.

The fact that his parents continues to coaches him and has fired so many great coaches that has come his way, is more of a reflection on Donald than it is on his parents. Every parent wants to see their child succeed and if there is a disagreement between parent and coach, usually this disagreement stems from the coach and the player. The parent then intervenes, thinking they know best, and fires the coach because their child is always right!

While there are some stupid coaches out there, at this stage in the game, sometimes you just have to put up with all the hard work that your coach is demanding of you in order to get the success you desire!!! It's that simple!!! For Donald I just don't believe he understands this yet. Remember this is a guy who has had great things said about him all his life and it would appear that maybe a lot of this has gotten to his head a little!!!

  6. It is true but Young is exactly that Young in mentally and pretty much everything in his game, i think they guy has potential but he seriously just needs time to mature physically and mentally and that will come when he starts playing on a regular basis at events.
