Question:

With how mediocre the Brewers have been playing lately, why are they so worried about the Cubs?

I understand that they want to catch the Cubs and win the division, but right now shouldn't their main priority be to keep winning games and stay in playoff contention. If I were them I wouldn't worry so much about the Cubs who are 5.5 games up on them, but I'd rather worry about the Cardinals who are .5 games back in the wild card. They've also got a 2.5 game on Florida, 3 games on the Mets and 5 games on the Dodgers. I'd be more worried about staying ahead of those teams and getting nto the playoffs instead of worrying about the Cubs and possibly not making the playoffs when they get caught from behind.

  1. If you were them , you'd be an MLB player making millions. But you're not. But yeah, take it one game at a time.

  2. It's always better to win the division than the wild card. That can be the difference from playing the NL West Champions (Let's say Dodgers) or the NL East Champions (Let's say Phillies). That's why the Brewers desperately want to catch up to the Cubs. They'll start worrying about the Wild Card around September, but for right now, they hope to be able to attempt to win the division.

  3. Yes, I agree...They should just take it day by day and try to keep winning games instead of focussing on the Cubs...because if they get caught up on how the Cubs do, they will lose more games because they arent focusing on the Brewers! They are in a good position right now and shouldnt lose it just because the Cubs are winning and they get down because of that....They should focus on their game and when its over look at the scoreboard and say "Hey! look the Cubs lost today...now for tomorrows game plan" or "Oh Darn, The Cubs won but hey we won too so who cares...lets focus on our next game"

Thats what they should be doing...but it looks like lately they are sitting in front of the TV and focussing on the Cubs game and forgetting they have their own business to attend to.

I think the Brewers are a good enough team to figure it out tho and I think they will be back to give the Cubs a run for their money while trying to maintain that Wild Card spot.

  4. I agree, and you make great points, and also, it is not going to work if the only time they win is when C.C. pitches.

  5. I agree, they should be concerned with keeping the Wild Card away from the Cardinals. Because they know that nothing is gonna take the NL Central division from us.

  6. ya id worry more about the wild card than the division at this point if im the brewers.
