With how the bible describes all heavenly miracles....?

Like, voices from the heavens, and rock carving when the earthlings thought it to be impossible... and, ascending to the heavens in a beam of light... How does anyone believe anything written in the bible?

I mean, if you all saw the same things happen today, you would all be closer to saying aliens exist, than thinking that it must be a god.

Are you just insistent that it is true because your parents told you that when you were little? Because you were told this as (excuse the term) "gospel" before your mind had the ability to distinguish fact from fiction, and you have simply never really questioned it since?

I am not trying to be spiteful or rude, I just don't understand. If you read the same things in something not called a 'bible', (such as something labelled mythology), you would have a closed mind to it being so, because you've been told that? Who told you? Are you sure even THEY knew? We are all people, no one person is better, or holier than anyone else. So no one person knows better than anyone else, they were simply told so. Which brings the question to mind - who told them? Their parents? Who were they? Maybe wayyyy back down the line somewhere, they were simply trying to make a dollar, and it all got carried away?

I mean, you know at one point in history, if people didn't go to church and donate, they were damned as witches and burnt, or called pagans, and killed, etc etc etc. The 'school bully' comes to mind. "Give me your lunch money!"

So like I said, not trying to be rude, just need to understand how Christianity is, (and bible based religions are), still today so widespread, when the world around us seems to say otherwise.

  1. Well, to start, all religion is pure BS brought about by man for means of suppression. Like laws didnt do this enough, religion bridged the gap to cover everyone in some way to behave. Sadly most people are mindless enough or brainwashed enough (like children of religious people) to still believe this and have something to fear/follow.

The world is thankfully changing, in good ways and bad. Bad being global warming, good being freedom of thought. Many people today are using this freedom of thought to realize religion as what it is, pure BS.

I wont get into the argument of how 'christianity' altered/changed/stole religion from the past from what is now known as mythology. That alone is just, odd, but was a necessary evil for them to have to do i guess.

Take life on another planet (tho planets are likely, just using one for an example)... They see some cosmic event happen yearly, bi-yearly or whatever, and they can and probably will deem that as some religious event that many will flock to/believe in. So are they wrong in their religious belief? Yes, as they simply do not know what is really happening. Now with mythology, they knew enough to make sculptures of their 'gods' of the time, and that is interesting. Some stories make you wonder what really went on. Something had to, tho we will never know what exactly odds are. Then take jesus, a man made concept of a 'holy' person. What would make a person holy? Sleeping with little altar boys? I mean come on, it is a lifestyle choice to be a priest but they are no different/better than anyone else. I watch tele-evangelist and have to laugh, then feel sad for those who blindly follow such tripe.

It is refreshing that many now choose to open their eyes, stop believing in fairy tales, and actually wonder why/how? There may even be answers to some of these question, but those answers may only serve to bring about many more questions.

Religion has outlived it's day thousands of years ago, and people are starting to finally wake up. Except for the many that cling tight to their story books and decide to kill others in the name of their imaginary friend. I love a good story, but i will not kill in the name of Dr. Seuss!

  2. I was a teaching preaching Athiest who had a vehement desire to

bring down all liars, and Christians topped my list of liars,

I hated them and their mushy ways were hypocritical to their beleifs,

I could see their lies a mile off.

But then, one day I prayed for the truth, as the guilt of bygone sins ate me up from the inside

the outward smile and happy happy outlook was devastated

I could not escape my own shortcomings and

yet I hated all who had short comings

    I despised all

for I could see the mischiefs of all,

from the highest authorities in the world, to the humble little church goer,

Oh the hate that I had in me , could have brought the war in Iraq to a standstill.

But then I asked the Lord to forgive me of my sins and

    The bully that I was

realised that  indeed God is the Truth and the Way and the Life

and without Jesus rising from the dead I had no way to redeem myself of all the gulit

    and hate

    and anger,

I was brought up in an athiest and violent household,

where the order of the day was knuckle sandwiches for breakfast lunch and dinner.
