  1. Modern technology does nothing for the blind and deaf, unless the child is a candidate for a cochlear implant, and not all are.

    It takes years for a person to be able to use assisted technology, as breaking through the sensory barriers is needed to teach the child language (and I don't mean speech).

    Look at the Dr. Phil archive to find the show he did on the world's only deaf-blind triplets. It will break your heart, but give you a realistic view of these special needs children and the struggles their families face every day.
