Question:

With no leg to stand on, how can the US stand there and accuse other nations of human rights violations?

I find it a bit hypocritical that Bush can stand before China and *lecture* China on its human rights violations record--when we ourselves are no better than they are!

We've done so much *worse* as a country that is supposed to be 'democratic' and 'free'. From the Iraq war to Gitmo, to habeus corpus, kangaroo courts, indefinite detentions without trial or charge, TORTURE, limiting people's free speech at political rallies--according to 'select audiences'--stacking the Supreme Court, covering corruption and abuse at the government level.

We also discriminate against blacks, minorities, Muslims, women's rights, the right to die, the right to live...the list goes on and *on* here.

How are we any *different* from what the Chinese have done nowadays--if this is the new face of what America now represents?

How can we stand on the world stage and declare ourselves the champion of 'human rights' when we have gone and done so many things that have been an *affront* to everything this country has stood for for so long?

  1. We can't -- if, that is, we morally equate our treatment of terrorists to the treatment that countries like North Korea and Cuba dole out to their own peaceful citizens.

I love how you liberals morally equate things.

You think that the US roughing up some terrorists is on the same moral plane as Cuba jailing and torturing a political dissident simply because he spoke out against Castro.

You think that water-boarding a terrorist who has information on future terror plans, is on the same moral level as Red China locking up some people because they had a religious service without the government's permission.

And you think that Bush's "trampling on my rights" (something you've whined about in previous questions) is no better than the way countries like NK, China, and Cuba treat their own people.

Here's a dollar, Sky.   Now go buy yourself a clue.

  2. The Bush Administration is no stranger to hypocrisy.  During the build-up to the Iraq War, the Bush Administration emphasized that Iraq was in violation of a number of U.N. resolutions, meanwhile the United States was at the time (and may still be) the leading country for number of violations of U.N. resolutions.

  3. If you need help call  dial 911 and they can get you to a hospital.  They will hep you there.  Make sure you take the meds as directed.  I suspect your current probles are the result of you stopping your meds.

    Good Luck and God Bless

  4. Yes, the US has its problems.  But compared to many other countries, the US is still nonpareil.  And if you are wronged in the US, you can get help and can sue and can at least try for restitution.  I think that many more people would much rather live in the than in China.  As for the current administration, they will be gone in January.  The Chinese cannot vote out their leaders.
