  1. Savings account.

You can invest in funds with a lot less than the $100,000 the other poster suggested, but $100 is just too small to bother.

  2. A few mutual funds have very low minimums if you sign up for automatic deposit of $25 a month or so. Pax World Fund might go that low. And don't pay attention to the naysayers who say $100 isn't worth investing. If you have 40 years, $100 should multiply many times. Look at a long-term return table, or better yet, run the numbers on a financial calculator or financial planning site (I've heard fidelity.com has a good financial planning site).

  3. Your transactions costs would make the investment of $100.00 not a prudent investment.  I do not know your age; but, I respectfully suggest that you talk with a bank or broker about "desirable" minimums for investing in their opinion. You really should this market downturn as an opportunity to make relationships within the financial community.  There is not much buying on conviction right now.  Lazy days of summer and all.

  4. Well since it's such a small amount I'm guessing you wouldn't lose much sleep if you lost it....

So what you should probably do is throw it in a penny stock...like MOVT for example currently trading at .001

You can buy 100,000 shares and hope it runs to .01 where you can sell for $1000....It happens but it also doesn't happen so if your willing to risk it you can make some money....GL

  5. It's not really worht your while with only $100

A lot of people wouldn't bother unless they had a $100,000

  6. A mutual fund company.  Look at T Rowe Price of Fidelity and select one of the no load funds.  You iwll have to look at the minimum.  But investing $100 a month is a good way to start building wealth
