AS HE GAZES INTO THE STRANGE

NISSAN FRONTIER, PROF. SAKSOFF

WONDERS ABOUT THE MAKEUP

With the cold night air

through the window sill

brushing up against

your iron will

it chills

…and your shirt is tight

I can see the things

in your electric chair

rushing right up to

your glowing hair

I stare

…and your color’s true

When you turn your head

to you look at me

do you like

the things

you think you see

…or am I incomplete

  1. I confess to seeing The electric chair at first when reading the second verse, is this a comment on my mind-set?

With the benefit of caffeine cogency (it's 8am here) I see cars and egos now. Metal egos. Custom spray paint personality...and spiky hair.

Can I have my toast now?

  2. driving the Metaford again?  I've asked that last question a lot...

  3. So now everyone made me Google NIssan and I still don't think the poem is about a car--electric or hybrid or whatever. The car is actually a Metaford. About this one all I can say to paraphrase is: I like the things I think I see in this poem. It is not incomplete, only mysterious. Could it be about the past meeting the future? Could I be tired?

  4. I usually start with a title that I change at the end.

Another shirt and iron will? I think you have been doing too much laundry in the last few days. It sort of transpires from your poetry.

I like anything with "incomplete" as its last word.

  5. So...death's destiny, the final stare, true color or what do you really see?  As to the content, this puzzles, which for me is probably not the first time nor the last!  lol Let's see, the guy is driving his hybrid showing off his manhood by having the window down and then pulls up by you at the stop light and looks at you in your old Dodge is my take.  Naturally you are incomplete because you are not green friendly. But you failed to interject that the man a month ago traded his Hummer for the Prius he now drives!  Maybe that is the next in this series?  I go now to ruminate.

  6. I thought this was nice imagery, great stuff.  I love my hair blowing in the wind and I fear no reflections... can we put on some ZZ Top? I'm not sure of the electric chair, makes me think of electrocution. I could go for an electronic dashboard and soft leather seats. Put the petal to the metal, max out the sound, and hit the ground running.

Only then will you be complete!

  7. You are drag racing again?  Neon is ruminating...is that related to

vroom, vroom? I do believe it's time to turn in. It's been a long day.
