  1. You cannot prevent either... Remember that you are a guest on this earth, and not the owner.  Thinking that you control the weather is like thinking that you can control aging...

  3. When the ice from the advancing glaciers is up to your high pockets.

  4. This whole thing about the reduction of CO2 levels is complete ****. 97% of all CO2 production comes from the water vapour on this planet which we have no control over. If you took all the CO2 that is produced by transport and industry etc, it would only amount to 3% of total CO2 produced.

It's just another con by government to fudge the tax payer.

  5. As the present Global Warming has been going on for thousands of years and we have just come out of a minor period of cooling I do not think that we will have any real effect on the temperature of the globe.

This, so called, phenomenon, Global Warming is just an excuse by bankrupt governments like the EU and the Brown Labour government to increase tax. The increased tax does not prevent Global Warming, which will continue even if we were carbon neutral, but that is the excuse, the World will continue to warm until natural cooling occurs. Strange isn't it that in the time of the Romans the world was much warmer and the seas higher, yet I don't find this being stated by our illustrious politicians.

  6. Dont worry. They will let you know when we have global cooling. We had it 25 years ago. We will have it 25 years from now. I cant believe that people keep falling for the nonsense. The cycles happen so fast why worry about it.

  7. one would assume, when the CO2 level returns to what it was before it's recent dramatic rise.

one might note that we could stop burning all the coal, oil, natural gas, etc, and that would stop the rise.

but it would not return the CO2 level to that which has been natural for the last several thousand years.

    which would be best.

there is no reason at all to think that global cooling is immanent, of would result if we stopped burning coal and oil.

that's just the coal lobby, trying to distract the argument.

  8. Reducing carbon emissions won't cause global cooling.  If we got our carbon emissions down to zero, there would be no warming or cooling.

  9. Are you asking that if we introduce alternative energy and slow global warming and accomplish it, we should then stop using alternative energy?

The problem with our emission of carbon is that the affects are not instantaneous so even if we stopped using fossil fuels right now, our carbon emissions would take a few years to really influence the atmospheric temperatures.  This means that even when we begin to emit very low amounts of carbon the global temperatures may only level off, but they will not begin cooling at an extreme rate (we won't be going into an ice age).

Why stop developing and using alternative energies when they help us end our dependency on other countries and are much cleaner?
