With regard to purchasing timber,what is a running metre?

if I wish to order timber at a yard i am asked if my measurement is in running metres.

  1. Selling of timber is by volume for thicknesses 10mm and above and by squar meter for less than that,  prices are varies based on type and location, as example, teak wood from Burma is higher than teak wood from India or Africa

    [Edit] Upon further research it appears that a running meter is simply a meter in length of the material. So, if you're buying long planks of timber, the running meters would simply be the length of that plank.
