With satellite TV, will any dish work with any network?

Hello,

My wife and I just bought a house that has a satellite dish on the roof and some co-axial cables running from it to the living room. We are interested in getting satellite service, but we can't tell which company the previous owners of the house signed on with. Will the existing dish work with whichever service we sign on with, or might we have to replace the dish?

  1. When you subscribe to Dish Network they give you the new and latest equipment and installation free anyway.  The dish you have now is probably old and it's not just the LMB there have been 3 dish upgrades in the past 5 years alone.  So just call dish at 1-800-333-3474 and get it all done right.

  2. I use several satellite websites, but the best for this information if http://www.freekeys.info.

Most sites make you pay or signup for a membership for the simplest info not this site, just liek yahoo answers.

  3. The dish is fine. It's the LNB - the round thing in the middle of the dish which you'll have to figure out which network it belongs.

The dish should have a marking on it - whether it's from DISH or DirecTV.
