  1. Barbie has existed for 50 years because children like dolls, many adults like dolls & the only limits to playing with Barbie (or any other doll/toy/game) is the person's imagination.

The people who have made a target of Barbie tend to be people who are looking for someone to blame, rather than face their problems.

Nearly everyone I know played with Barbie as a child, as did their children & now their grandchildren (I am 49 years old). NONE of us, NONE of our children & NONE of  our grandchildren have body image issues, bulimia, anorexia or anything else because we have the brains to know that Barbie is a toy, NOT a real person.

I work retail & am constantly appalled at the things I hear parents (especially mothers) say to their daughters. Things like "you would be so pretty if you just wore more makeup". "Why do you want that dress, it is very little girlish" This one was spoken to a child who looked to be about 8, she is a littel girl, for crying out loud. I have heard parents tell their daughters, "Boys won't like you if you wear glasses, you should get contacts". The list goes on & on.

Girls of today are not influenced by Barbie. They are influenced by vapid socialites like Paris Hilton, train wreck popstars like Britney Spears & Disney manufactured teen idols like Miley Cyrus.

  2. Yeah,, its funny how barbie got strong influence in the toy shelves,,

Some things are difficult to avoid, Because no matter how we protect,, girls,, especially young girls whom only fantasize of becoming and dressing up like beautiful women,, go for barbie, because it is the most perfect figure of a grown women,,

We adults (well most) dont play with barbie but we protest,, but it children who play,, and they dont protest,, and what is our protest compared to the money that they make,,
