With the continents having changed shape over the millenia into what they are today...?

...I can't help but think of it as the sum total of ALL natural disasters over the course of billions of years as the planet evolves along.

Are today's global warming proponents trying to suggest they can stop this changing? And if so...aren't they just nuts?????

This particular change is one WE caused and one WE can stop.

Yes, they are nuts to think they can stop our change a natural aspect of the planet we live on.

So, do you lie awake at night scared that N. America is about to collide with Asia?  So if something that will happen in 100,000,000 years isn't an issue, why are people concerned with climate change over the next 50 years?  Excellent question.  Probably not one that anyone could answer to your satisfaction.

I don't think anyones suggesting putting a stop to plate tectonics, end volcano eruptions, or alter the Milankovitch cycles.  But understanding them so we can prepare for them certainly sounds prudent.

And with all the natural disasters you mentioned, do we really want to add to them by creating artificial ones?  I would think not.
