If you made the switch, what were the difficulties you faced?

If not, would you consider ultilizing if gas prices were to continue to increase or were to dramatically increase?

  1. Due to my start time of 6:30 am, none of our public transportation is running.  Plus if I did use the local bus, a 13 mile trip to work would take 1 hour.  25 minutes if I drive or ride.  So no, I will not take public transportation.

  2. Unfortunately, my situation has to do with the horrible slump in the housing market. With no buyer, I have to drive an hour away for most of my personal, social and business needs. This means it is a must to pay at the pump. If the house were sold, and I moved back to Columbus (a much bigger city with public transportation) I would use it at least 30% of the time.

  3. If people could rely on public transportation, there would have been more people using it. In alot of cases public transportation isn't available, or the time involved to get to it is more than driving.

Let me tell you what it takes to use public transportation to go 25 miles, I started my shift at 6:30 A.M., but had to be at the Bart Station to catch the first train at 5:00 A.M., the whole trips was only 30 minutes, but I couldn't depend on arriving on time at the other station and be on time at work. The cost of public transportation is reaching the point a person with a car or truck has to choose between the time and cost of public transportation or the ability to get where you're going with little problems, and just alittle more cost.

The government and states have to find ways and support to help people find other ways to get where they need to go without the need of their cars and trucks.

People can push public transportation all they want, the people running these agencies aren't interested in supporting ways to bring it to the public, anymore that what they think the  standard needs are. When talking about standard needs, it's the morning and evening hours when more people are using the buses and trains which are all pack because the agencies aren't meeting the needs of the people.

Thank God I'm retired now, but still feel there should be more effort to help people with their transportation needs.

  4. Sure, I would use it if there were transportation available to get me back and forth to work in a reasonable amount of time. I live near Raleigh, NC. It ain't gonna happen here any time soon.

I sold my motorcycle recently. Now I regret it. I'll be shopping for a new one in the near future.
