Some people are putting buckets on the floor of their showers to collect excess water for the garden. Another great idea someone told me was filling their wheelie bin with the excess water from their washing machine as well. Anyone else have great ideas and uses for their excess water?

  1. recycle for you garden and have power showers. replace shower head with water saving ones and try to use the least watter wen washing your car

  2. Use a watering can when washing the car.  After bathing my baby in her tub,  the water that I have used I water the outdoor plants with.

  3. Shower with a friend!

    Pee in the kettle!

  4. bath once a week

  5. have all the water go to a contained small wetland system.

  6. they're having a water shortage? why? i hacen't heard about it.

  7. Some tips on water saving;

    Install a Hippo Bag or Save-a-Flush to Inefficient toilets (save upto 5000 litres a year)

    Keep your grass longer to conserve water.

    Cleaning your teeth with the tap off uses 1 litre of water, compared to leaving the tap running which uses 6 litres (save upto 5500 litres per year).

    Have a shower instead of a bath - this can save 300 litres of water a week. Be careful though - a power shower can use more water than a bath! (save upto 15600 litres per year).

    Fix Leaking Taps - dripping taps can waste up to 140 litres of water a week (save upto 7200 litres per year per leak).

    Install low-flow showerheads (about £10/$15) – They cut your shower water use in half, with no change in performance, saving you more than (£50/$100) a year in hot water use. (save upto 7200 litres per year)

    Don’t run the water continuously when washing dishes by hand, shaving, washing your face and hands. Avoid rinsing dishes with hot water before putting them in the dishwasher. (save upto 11000 litres per year)
