  1. Life on earth is at even the most inhospitable places forexample

Hot and toxic springs at Yellow Stone Park

    Hot volcanic under sea vents

Bacteria living deep in rocks with no access to air.

    So all options are open.

The universe is so vast there is intelligent life. We are just an example. On probability it would be foolish to to consider as us being unique. If intelligent life is found the church would have to reconsider our espoused unique status!

  2. just because there is water on a planet, doesn't mean there is necisarily life on it. life needs water, as well as oxygen, and food, and a temperate climate. just because there is water on mars doesn't mean that all the other qualifications are filled.

i don't think we will ever encounter intelligent life. it is very hard to come by. intelligent life is extreamily rare. intelligent life is a lot more complex, and needy than simple organic organisms. our universe is probably littered with bacteria and plants because they can adapt to some fairly extream conditions. some bacteria can even live without oxygen. so simple organic life is a lot more plentiful in the universe than intelligent life. intelligent life needs to evolve over a period of millions of years, while survivng the wild around it, the geological changes it faces, as well as the inevitable extinction of the species. the human race is actually very lucky to have stayed around for so long given the circumstances. we have had an uncountable number plagues, some of which wipe out more than a quater of the world population, as well as other problems. one thing that helps mankind stay on earth is the fact that we are divided into different countries. for example, if germany were to undergo an extream revolution, the damage would be confined to germany, and possibly some neighboring countries. if the entire race of humans were confined to one ruler... one country... we would have tons of rebellions, and we would end up killing ourselves.

so i don't think we're going to encounter any intelligent life anytime soon.

  3. Well, in addition to that, NASA found nutrient rich soil, so much so that they said it was like the dirt in you r backyard! They said that we could grow asparagus in it! So there might be simple life on Mars. But as for intelligent life. I think there are only one to two intellignet life forms in the universe. Nad several simple life forms. We can mathematically figure this out using the drake equation and the Fermi Paradox. You can look them up and hear about them at astronomycast.com, under archive. It is a really cool site.

  4. There have been hints that water may have been found on mars but if it is really verified there would be a lot of publicity that no one will miss.

Intelligent life proliferates in all parts of the universe,we may get get proof of it tomorrow,in 10 years or never.

  5. We'd be pretty ignorant to believe that we are the only life force, just cause we havent found it yet doesnt mean its not out there, I always have the opinion that if there is human life form on this planet maybe there is life forms on other planets, will they be human, I dont think so, but it will be a life form none the less, it could be germs, or flowers or bugs, who knows, but its pretty interesting thinking about it! :)

  6. Thousands of years if ever.

Even if there is or was life on Mars, there is no reason for it to be or have been intelligent.  For most of the history of life on Earth, things like birds and lizards were the smartest things that had ever lived.  I see no reason why any other planet should be different.

  7. Water is the most common compound (as opposed to elements) in the universe. It would be surprising if they did not find any on Mars. Other conditions need to exist for life to exist. These other conditions, such as lightning, large tidal effects (such as caused by our Moon),  etc, may never have existed on Mars, and may be extremely rare in the universe. It may never come to pass that we find any evidence of life on other planets either within or outside of our solar system. The distances involved are just too great.  Also, life on other planets, if it exists, may not be past single cell level, just like Earth's life for most of the past 3.5 billion years.
