With the housing and mortgages being so rubbish at the moment?

is it better to rent? i have finished uni and will hopefully have a job soon. how hard is it to get a mortgage at the moment? is it better to rent (which i wouldn't normally so as its dead money)

  1. I'd say no.  If you can, move back in with your folks & save like mad!


  2. It is better to rent now until you have got a job in order to get a mortgage. Then it is better to get a mortgage to buy a house for a home of your own. A mortgage is some form of an saving and can be used as a reversed mortgage when one gets older.

  3. Where I live outside Washington DC homes are going cheap....I would buy now before they go back up.

  4. Babe renting is your best bet house prices are artificially high anyway.

  5. Almost no chance of buying yet - if you don't have a job yet -and even then you may only be on what? £25k -forget it - unless you want to pay well over the odds for something your shoes would be squeezed to fit into.

    Best bet is renting - private, councils have zilch stock and huge waiting lists. Good luck,

  6. The government is about to introduce a scheme where you can get an interest free loan of up to 30% of the value of your first home. Might be worth renting for a bit and see how it pans out.
