I have a starting research company and one issue is being able to stop a bullet OR disarm a gun from being use by a suspect/bad guy.

th idea comes from officers having stand off with suspects or suspects using a old lady for cover. putting a officer in fully body amor is good but being able to stop or slow down the bullet or with the use of UHF, creating so much heat, that the suspect cant hold on to it.........

  1. Unfortunately, there are a few problems associated with using UHF--or, indeed, most forms of electromagnetic radiation--on a firearm.  The foremost of them being the energy transfer.

When a beam of energy, whether it be microwaves or visible light, hits the gun, it will turn some of that energy to heat.  Depending on the frequency of the beam, much of it may pass through the gun, or much of it may stop at the gun.  Either way, the gun will gain thermal energy--it will get hot.  If the subject is wearing gloves, it is quite possible the gun will "cook off"; that is, it's ammunition may detonate in the magazine or the barrel without the trigger being pulled, thus endangering the hostage.

Another problem is the danger of the beam itself.  This is a lot of energy to be directing into close proximity to a hostage.  Some of this energy may interact badly with human flesh!  If a beam designed to heat up a gun intersects a human target, it may be extremely painful or even deadly to the hostage.  (See the U.S. military's Active Denial System)  Even if one is willing to inflict "harmless" or non-damaging pain to the hostage, the effect on the suspect is likely to result in the hostage being killed.

The third problem--and probably most easily solved--is the problem of burden.  If this system is to be used in the field, it has to be light enough for an officer to carry it.  Battery technology needs to improve, or a way to transmit energy without wires, through walls, needs to be developed.  It generally isn't practical to ask an officer to run an extension cord from his vehicle while the suspect is attempting to flee with a hostage.

So, can we stop a bullet from leaving the gun?  Doubtful.  We can cause the weapon serious harm, but only at the risk of serious harm to the hostage--and a marksman with a rifle is an equal risk.

  2. try microwave radiation instead? metal objects heat up like no other, though it might cause a misfire.

But the best way is to immobilize the target, not his tool. tools are common and wide in variety, so stopping them all would be impossible, but disable the user, the tool becomes useless

and yes anythings possible just not probably feasible

  3. i doubt it. criminals are smart. they would figure something out. like wearing heat resistant gloves.

its this one effect. i forgot what its called. like if the police buy something, the criminals one up them. like police  buy semi autos, they buy autos. police buy vests, they buy armor peircing rounds.

    make it a good day
