Do I need to pay extra to get a security system or is this protection good enough?

Oh don't think you need to purchase any other software. You can try some other type free software for adware, malware, spyware, etc. Software like Spybot Search & Destroy and all other antivirus programs are incompatable with Norton\Symantec, but there are good ones that you can run when you want that won't interfere.
