what can Greyhound Bus Lines do to keep passengers safe? When the driver's throat was cut by a passenger, a plastic door was put up seperating the passengers from the driver (at least in the buses where I live). I used to ride Greyhound alot but now am nervous to. Anything I can do to protect myself?

  1. This stuff is freaking me out too 'cause I take them at least once a month, but what I do is stay as alert to my surroundings as possible. Which means I don't listen to my iPOD anymore. I want to be able to hear everything thats going on around me... like a guy coming up behind me with a hunting knife perhaps?

  2. You take your life in your hands just going into a Greyhound Bus Station..I would walk before boarding a bus.Any bus.

  3. Other than not riding them - not really.

Try riding trains, their actually quite cheap now!

Greyhounds don't have security checks, making them pretty much ride at your own risk.

  4. Well, if you're riding a Greyhound bus, it should be their #1 priority to Protect YOU.  This last attack was unprovoked, and random, and of course, no one helped, so Greyhound needs to look hard at this.

I think making people pass through gates - metal-detector-like, sort of like the anti-shoplifting ones they have set up at stores, but to detect large and sharp objects would certainly be a start.  Make sure their baggage is put through also.  I wouldn't mind the extra time, - I'd rather go through this than the incidents of late.

When travelling In public, you have to remember, you are "In public".  But Greyhound should assure your safety somehow.

Those people who left the bus should be forced to do 'Community Service' at funerals or something.  Alright, I'm done.

    Still upset..

Edit: To S.K. above me.. The difference is that people PAY good money to ride Greyhound, not walk down the street..

  5. How is greyhound any different then a train or public bus in any city. Thousands of people use the subway in new york and the metro trains in just about every city every day and they dont have security checkpoints. Its not any different than just walking down the street. Alot more stuff happens when people walk down the street, but we pay attention more when its inside a bus for some reason. Lets not all panic and start talking about it like it happens everyday, just a few isolated events. If you are nervous to ride greyhound, you should just stay inside your whole life because you should be nervous to go out in public in general.

  6. arm the drivers with AK47's
