I'm flying to the UK from China and the one way ticket is more expensive than a return..can't governments do something about this in a legal sense?

  1. just buy the r/t and forget about the return, if it is cheaper.

  2. No, its a privilege to fly not a right

  3. You need to check the price from airfare consolidators.  They are often much cheaper for one-ways, especially for international flights.  Try one-way search at http://www.bookingbuddy.com for these.

  4. Have you tried Ryanair as they do cheaper flights than most. also try the flightchecker on www.moneysavingexpert.com and see if you get a cheaper flight, be it return or single. If the return is cheaper, then get that, forget about the return and save yourself some money!

  5. I have never done this with an air-line ticket, but I do find `silly fares` sometimes with rail travel. I can but a single ticket from the South West of England to London and a single ticket back home again from London to the West Country, the combined total of which is £.69.00. less than the cost of a return ticket.!It seems to me that this does not make much economic sense from the railway`s point of view.
