  1. Well, they did them some headaches early on last year but I don't see Chicago challenging for the division just yet.

  2. pshh.....YEAH RIGHT!!

    GO WINGS!

  3. Surprisingly enough they gave Detroit a rough time of it this past regular season. That may happen again, but when push comes to shove, Detroit is even stronger this year. They may lose to Chicago in the regular season, but not the playoffs (were it to happen).

  4. They were a royal pain in the collective asses of the Wings last season. I think the addition of Campbell was one of the best signings in free agency period. Once he clicks with Kane and Toews they will be an explosive and very hard to defend top line. Are they a threat to breeze past the Wings and make a serious Cup run right now....No. They are still too young and lack the depth needed plus they need to develop better lines behind the top line. My biggest concern is the Huet signing. Keep in mind the Canadiens made the decision to move him and go with an unproven rookie for their playoff run, deeming Huet not the guy to give them a legitiment shot at going to the Stanley Cup finals. Far too often goalies who sign big free agent deals bust and Huet seems like a perfect candidate to do the same (one would think the Hawks knew this...Bulin?). Love their agressiveness and desire to improve, now that the old man is out at least his kids want to bring back the glory days for Hawks fans. Better? Yes, much better! Serious Cup contenders....No, not yet but they certainly took a great first step in getting back to respectibility.

  5. they almost did last season i think if players stay healthy possibly

Well i think Chicago beat Detroit at least 4x last season so there is a chance that  it could happen i am not saying they will be 1st in the divison but maybe 2nd or 3rd

  6. Hawks were 5-3 against Detroit this past season.

I think that qualifies as giving them some competition.

why do people still take the Hawks as a poor team with a 35% improvement since 2005, and only missed the playoffs by 3 points? (missed by 25pts in 06-07)

  7. They did that last season-- Chi-town practically owned the Wings..

Goalie grade has improved a little and defense is as solid as any in the Central..  Now they just need to handle the 3 other teams in the division for a legit shot at playoffs..

  8. They definitely will give Detroit SOME competition, definitely more than last year.  The Blackhawks have a lot of young talent, along with a solid goalie - Huet, and a really good defenseman - Campbell.

Obviously the Blackhawks aren't going to crush Detroit or be anywhere near their level, but at least they won't lose miserably to them anymore, and they might put up a decent fight.

  9. No, they may make the playoffs but Detroit is too dominant at this point.  The Red Wings have a scary ammount of talent and have no glaring weakness outside of their average goalie who is made to look fantastic sitting behind a perfectly exectued trap defense.

  10. There is no way for we are the Champions, with 4 titles in the last 11 seasons, Stanley loves Detroit, Hey Hey Hockeytown!!!

  11. They do already. I don't know what you are talking about. I don't have the exact statistics but this season, the Blackhawks beat the Redwings more times than the Redwings beat them. I think they played 9 times or something and the hawks won 6 of them.

  12. NO

  13. if i remember correctly, Detroit couldnt beat Chicago last year and was hoping they wouldnt squeak into the 8th spot.
