  1. I dont have children with ADHD  but I do have aspergers and so does my youngest son. the problems that I run into with children wiht ADHD  is the schools and homework.

teachers just arent trained to deal with children with exceptionalities.

I love children wiht ADHD becuase they are intelligent and very creative and often times are great problem  solvers.

if you keep them busy with something constructive all the time and when they get older give them things that require thought and that interest them then they will grow into good positive kids that have good self esteem.

you do kind of have to pick and choose your battles and finds things that you like them doing and point it out and ignore alot of the negative unless it involves addressing it.

you have to talk to them but in sentences that are on their level. you can tjust tell them no you have to say why and be consistant becuase they have good memories.

consequences work well with them as then they can make a connection between the unwanted behavior and the punishment and are more like ly to remember it for next time.

  2. I have an ADHD child. In everything I try to have her find the good. I try to praise her a lot, because they need LOTS of help with self-esteem.I keep her BUSY.I have a wonderful daughter, but I had to throw the "normal child raising books out the window". They are more sensitive , smart & ACTIVE.Teach them a good sense of humor, laugh.I do magic 123 to discipline.(works great} Good Luck Tip-don`t punish them, if they do something they can`t help. You really got to pick your battles with them-or you`ll be fussing all the time.I belong to a yahoo group-The ODD parent journey@yahoo.com check us out.
