With your finger on the lead end of a resistor , what affect will it have on the ohm reading?

  1. Good God where did you get a lead ended resister ? , last one I saw was 50 years ago ! To answer your question---one finger on one end only and nothing touching the other end ---no effect at all ! One finger on each end will reduce the value of the resister by connecting your body resistance  ( or one hand ) in parallel , this will vary according to the dryness or dampness etc of your skin or body !!!

  2. Yes, Pete is right grounding one side only would have no effect, but does that actually apply to all lead end resistors Pete?

    I was thinking that depended on the resistance of the resistor.

    For example if it was a 3000 OHM spark plug the resistance wouldn't be changed right?

    :) unless it was firing when your finger touched it, but, if that was the case this question wouldn't be getting asked would it :)
