Question:

Withdrawals from Lortab?

I have been taking 10mg of Lortab, sometimes 17 pills a day for about 4 months. I am out of pills and will not be able to get a re-fill on my prescription until Friday morning, what type of withdrawals will I have. I am so worried. I cannot miss work. My husband is out of work, and I cannot afford to lose my job.

Thanks

  1. You will be really irritable, have headaches, all over pain, and generally just feel miserable.  I am amazed that your stomach is not killing you from all the acetaminophen that you are taking a day....man you are killing your stomach.  The first answerer is right...you will probably get the shakes and have other similar side effects.  I would consider calling in sick if I had the option.  Also, you need to seek help for your situation...no one needs that much pain medicine.

  2. I cannot imagine any doctor prescribing 14 of those a day for 4 months.  So I am assuming that you have been doctor shopping, or finding some other way to get your pills.  You really need to handle that issue, it sounds like you are definitely addicted.  One of my close relatives just went through the exact same thing until she was caught.

Withdrawal symptoms will be the standard narcotic withdrawals.  Shakes, sweating, amazing amounts of irritability, and all over pain.  If you've only been doing it for four months it may not be as bad, but at those amounts I can't say.

You can always ask for FMLA leave to go to rehab, but you won't get paid while you're on that leave.  Your job has to allow any sort of medical leave like that.  It's up to you to decide what to do, I can only give you information and hope that you end up okay.
