Question:

Within a group, is it possible to create a second email list that people can subscribe and unsubcribe to?

For every group there is an email list that people can automatically subscribe and unsubcscribe to, and to which messages can be posted and announcments sent. As a group moderator, what I want to know is if it's possible to create a second sub-list, in addition to the main one, that people can also subscribe and unsubscribe to automatically. We would use this for extra related announcements and messages that some, but not all, the people in the group would be interested in getting.

If this is possible, can someone who knows how please let me know how I could begin setting it up? I haven't been able to find anything one way or another about this in the Yahoo documentation. Also, if anyone knows for a fact that this is not possible, please let me know that. Again, this second list needs to be one that people can automatically subscribe and unsubscribe to, not one that the moderator would have to manually add and remove people from.

Thanks!

  1. No, it is not possible to do that.  You could let the members of the first group know about the second one so they could join it if they want to.  When creating the second group you would make the group setting where "Membership does not require approval".  People would still have to click the "Join This Group" button on the home page to join it.  They would then automatically be accepted as members. (You would not have to approve their membership.)

  2. you'd have to create another separate group in order to do what you want to do. it is not possible to have a sub list within any group
