  1. You should dim your brights as soon as you see someone coming.


  2. 500 feet is the law, but common courtesy would be to shut them off when you see their lights.

  4. It probably varies by state but in my state the law reads, in

    summary, no driver shall operate high-beam headlights with-

    in 500 feet of any parallel traffic.  I wish the cops would

    enforce the high beam laws!

  5. Usually most laws state somewhere around 500 feet, but as a general rule of courtesy it is just when you see the oncoming vehicle or its headlights. That way, nobody is blinded by high beams, which is better than both drivers being blinded and out of anger, not switching to low.
