  1. I went to Leopardstown races a few days a go, there were loads of men there, OK, so it rained and I spent most of the time in the pub, but my intentions were good.  I lost a bloody fortune too, but never mind.

You could always go to some gigs too!!

  2. a church..a job...........a sporting event.........

  3. The reality is that in a lot of towns in Ireland, the pub (short for public house) is the epicenter of the social scene. It's where people (including parents with children) will get together to talk and eat and drink. It's not at all like the bar scene in the US.

Otherwise, where to go to meet people depends a lot on what kind of people you want to meet. If you enjoy a specific activity, like biking or horseback riding, there are groups that you can get involved with. Taking classes in something that you are interested, like art of music, is a good way to expose you to people with similar interests.

One amusing place to meet other singles in Ireland is the annual Matchmaking Festival in the town of Lisdoonvarna in County Clare. An annual event that draws people from all over Ireland, it runs from the end of August through early October and the town holds all kinds of activities. Traditional matchmakers will be on hand to tell you what kind of partner you should find and there are plenty of dances going on at the pubs.

  6. any g.a.a. games - hurling or gaelic football etc  theres loads of people at the matches. dont go to a church thats weird. just go into the town and you'll meet lots of people. lots of tourists have come up to me & my friends in the town like. otherwise yea a pub would be a good place.
