Question:

Without meds, is there anything I can do about a sluggish thyroid level?

I think mine's low, but it's going to be awhile before I can get it tested. Are there any supplements I can take or foods I should be eating that might be able to help?

  1. you can start by taking  Kelp tab. every day, maybe a seaweed capsule make sure the salt you are using has iodine in it,herbs for   thyroid are bayberry-black cohosh. Limit your intake on cabbage,spinach,turnips,mustard,cassava root, take vitamins zinc 30mg. ,Bs C 1gram A25,oooiu  this is what I have been doing for years with out a drug the only real thing I do is make sure I take my (seedweed cap and Kelp every day )  


  2. Eat activia!! it is a yoghurt in strawberry flavour, is really delicious and does the job even for a sluggish thyroid level.

    i know this as my doctor recommended it to me

  4. There are also homeopathic formulas in addition to the herbs and supplements that often work very well (such as Thyroid Support by Nature Bio). Homeopathics will not interfere with anything else you might be taking.

  7. There is a lot you can do with diet and supplements:

    Supplements:

    Kelp         2000-3000mg daily

    L-Tyrosine       500 mg twice daily

    Vitamin B complex 100 mg 3x daily, w/meals

    Brewer’s yeast    As directed

    Essential Fatty Acids   As directed

    Beta Carotene   15,000 iu daily

    Vitamin C      500 mg 4x daily

    Vitamin E      400 iu daily

    Zinc         50 mg daily

    Herbs:

    Bayberry and black cohosh can be quite helpful.

    Recommendations:

    Include in the diet molasses, parsley, apricots, dates and prunes.

    Avoid Brussels sprouts, peaches, pears, spinach, turnips, cabbage, kale, broccoli and mustard greens.

    Antihistamines and sulfa drugs should not be taken, unless specifically advised by a physician.

    Avoid processed and refined foods, including white flour and sugar.

    Avoid fluoride (in toothpaste and tap water) and chlorine. (tap water)
