is it worth taking a vitamin if i can't absorb the nutrients anyways?

after a very long endoscopy, my doctor has determined that my entire small intestine is like a floor rather than a rug and that all of my villi are gone

he says that they will grow back and to take lots of vitamins since i haven't been absorbing anything for a while.

but am i getting anything out of these vitamins?

  1. Why go to this dr, if you don't want to follow his advice?  Do what he says, and do what it takes to be healthy again.

  2. Without villi you have a *reduced* surface area to absorb nutrients, but you still do absorb them. (Just not as effeciently).
