Question:

Witnesses of Jehovah: Abel, 1st Century christians...?

Since Jehovah's Witnesses claim that Abel is the first "witness of Jehovah" and that the apostalic church of the first Century were also "Jehovah's Witnesses".....

Do you think that these faithful men of God would have taught that UNITY in the congregation is more important than SOUND DOCTRINE?

Please keep in mind that many are disfellowshipped from the modern-day religion of Jehovah's Witnesses for disagreement with and/or challenging the accuracy of CURRENT official doctrines and understandings, even though doctrines can be changed at any time (new light).

  1. stay away from the JW

  2. in light of what you say-yes.i am no jw, but what you say makes perfect sense.

  3. Which is really your question?  about witnesses of Jehovah?  or unity vs. sound doctrine? You also made mention of d'fs, challenging the accuracy of CURRENT official doctrines... =)

    Addtl

I will try to cover the thoughts of your question

We are united (in unity) in sound doctrine or accurate theology.

Speaking and thinking in agreement or unity is are pointed out by aposlte paul

"Now I exhort YOU, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that YOU should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among YOU, but that YOU may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought" 1 Cor 1:10

"Now may the God who supplies endurance and comfort grant YOU to have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had," Rom 15:5

"Finally, brothers, continue to rejoice, to be readjusted, to be comforted, to think in agreement, to live peaceably; and the God of love and of peace will be with YOU." 2 Cor 13:11

    Addt:

Wheelsqueak - it seems you are implying that those who are not in unity/agreement do not have sound doctrines =)

  4. O' Blessed one,

It takes SOUND DOCTRINE to have UNITY.

  5. I wonder where was the "Watchtower" located at back then....

  6. Jesus is the first Witness of Jehovah. Rev. 1:5 says: "and from Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,” “The firstborn from the dead,” and “The Ruler of the kings of the earth.” To him that loves us and that loosed us from our sins by means of his own blood."

"Unity is more important than 'Accurate Knowledge'"? Nonsense. It is accurate knowledge from the Bible that keeps JWs unified.

JWs base their beliefs on what the Bible says. As Jesus said in prayer to his Father: "Your word is truth." (John 17:17) Can the same be true of other professed Christians? No. Consider: Where in the Bible did Jesus authorize the celebration of his birth and resurrection? NOWHERE! Where in the Bible did Jesus ever say God is triune? NOWHERE! Where in the Bible does it say that the human soul is immortal? NOWHERE! Where in the Bible does it say that God torments the wicked in a burning h**l? NOWHERE!

JWs know the difference between sound Bible doctrine and the teachings of demoms.

  7. I was a witness before i got disfellowshipped and i'll keep an  open mind here when i'll explain what i know about them  regarding your posted question.

I doubt what you were saying, " Jehovah's Witnesses believe, Unity is more important than Accurate Knowledge" but what I saw was, " Unity is Equally important as Accurate Knowledge".

To keep Unity among a group of people everyone has to have the same/similar level of knowledge and understanding to see things the same way. That was exactly what i saw, everyone has  to study the Bible and gain a standard level  of Accurate Knowledge of the Bible and the doctrines before you become a witness. They believe having the same understanding maintains Unity.

Many who are disfellowshipped,do not live according to their bible based teaching and  doctrines. They only get disfellowshipped when they disagree or challenge the new lights AND they do not want to live according to the doctrine and teachings ( I hope disagreements on new lights can be sorted out if someone in doubt seeks help)

I believe every religion has their own teachings, doctrine and standards to be kept and every memeber should live according to them.

  8. JWs don't believe in the Early Christians to begin with! All the writings from the Early Christian Church were already declared as fake because of the WBTS doctrines! You will notice only the anti-trinitarians are the ones who consider these early Christians and their writings as "apostasy" and "counterfeit" and "deceptive" even though a great number of them were students of the Apostles themselves!

Some of those early documents were questionable but were never proven counterfeit. That doesn't mean all of them are definitely fakes, most of them were proven authentic and the only thing fake here are the growing false religions coming to our doorsteps!!!

  9. Have you noticed how frequently the apostle Paul alerted Christians to guard against speculation and unprofitable questions? To Timothy he wrote: “For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories.” (2 Tim. 4:3, 4) In his letter to Titus, Paul warned: “Shun foolish questionings and genealogies and strife and fights over the Law, for they are unprofitable and futile.” (Titus 3:9) Elsewhere the apostle cautions Christians to avoid “philosophy and empty deception,” “idle talk,” “empty speeches,” “falsely called ‘knowledge,”” “false stories,” and “strange teachings.

    Wow..its happening again.

  10. 1st Corinthians 1:10 says-

"Now I exhort you brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that you should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among you, but that you should be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought."

Sort of like hydrogen and oxygen - takes both to make water.

So accurate knowledge and unity are so joined and it takes both to have the truth and approval from Jehovah's viewpoint (and Paul's).

  11. Jehovah does not have a perfect organization, but he has one who endeavor to do his will. What other group does that ?!

  12. We claim that they were Jehovah's Witnesses in the sense that they witnessed about God and followed his commands. Any religion claiming to be Christian will say that their beliefs go back to the old testament. That just makes sense. Clearly there wasn't a religious organization called "Jehovah's Witnesses" back then. Your statement is misleading.

While the Governing Body do not claim to be infallible (unlike the leader of at least one other religion I could name), they are God's method of explaining scripture and giving "food at the proper time."(Matt 24:45) Why should anyone who vocally, loudly and persistently challenges Bible doctrine as explained through God's channel be allowed to remain in the congregation?

This line of reasoning you use smacks of apostasy.

  13. unity is more important
