Witton Tom wins British Bred Puppy Derby Final, Jordan Soilutions bolts heats in Carlian East Anglian Challenge
Saturday night, Witton Tom bagged £1,000 by winning the 480m British Bred Puppy Derby Final at Newcastle Greyhound Stadium. Earlier in the tournament, Witton finished first in a heat in July as well.
Glen Lynas’s Puppy sprinted across the track in 29.50 seconds while Killieford Blaze followed closely for the second position, finishing in 29.58 seconds, one length short of the winner.
Valenta Zig, the puppy to make it third, performed way below the first two, finishing in 29.94 seconds, four and a half lengths short of Killieford Blaze.
Hanruby Ron made it fourth, 100 points short of Valenta Zig, while T. Edgar’s Romeo Machine made it fifth in 30.20 seconds, two lengths short of Hanruby Ron.
Black Rock was the last to cross the finish line in 30.44 seconds, leaving a gap of four lengths between him and Romeo Machine.
Trainer Charlie Lister’s Jordan Soilutions was the quickest of the qualifiers to finish the heats of Carling East Anglian Challenge at Yarmouth Stadium, the same day, on the 6th of August.
Jordan Soilutions finished first in 27.57 seconds and was followed by Swift Larry in 27.79 seconds for the second position, two and three quarters of a length short of him.
Trainer David Pruh’s Chicago Prince made it third with just a point’s difference, while Rookery Pedro made it fourth in 28.32 seconds and Ballymac Cat fifth, in 28.46 seconds.
Charlie Lister had a winner and a loser in Heat 1 with Yahoo Jamie finishing last, while Jordan Soilutions finished first.
Jackdaw Summer finished first in 27.9 seconds in Heat 2, followed by trainer Charlie Lister’s Final Boe at the second position, crossing the wire in 28.04 seconds.
Trainers K. Findlay’s Westmead Guru made it third with a difference of 24 points, three lengths short of Final Boe.
Coolbrook Paddy made it fourth in 28.44 seconds and Perfect Review finished fifth in 28.48 seconds.
Trainer Mark Wallis’s Legit Jack was the last to make it to the wire in 28.72 seconds.
In Heat 3, Ardkill Sweep was the first to make it to the wire in 28.32 seconds, followed by Everglade for the second position in 28.52 seconds, two and a half lengths short of the winner.
Bourne Masons finished third, 8 points and one length shy of the runner-up, followed closely by Newton Diamond in 28.66 seconds for the fourth position.
Trainer R .Pleasant’s Dual Control crossed the finish line with Newton Diamond, but their speed decided their positions, Dual Control losing out to get the fifth position.
Toosey Cindy made it to the wire much later in 29.08 seconds, five and a quarter of a length short of Newton Diamond and Dual Control, the last to finish the race.
The Carlian East Anglian Challenge's heats have some very promising contenders which makes the finals on Wednesday, the 10th of August, full of anticipation.
