I hate when players talk about wanting rings, and then they take a $111 million contract, If a ring was so imprortant, why dont these players back it up, by signing for 50 million or less, so the team can improve it's roster?

I would love to see Franchise type player, back up his talk and sign for 5 million a year

  1. Yea Gilbert Arenas said he wants to win a title so he took 16 million dollars less. When your getting paid 100+ million does it matter whether its 111 million or 127?

There have been star players that took pay cuts to be on contending team by the way. The 2 names that come to mind are Karl Malone and Gary Payton. They both took pay cuts to play with the Lakers in 2004.

  2. okay well if arenas wanted a ring why did he sign with Washington?

second there are alot of big name athletes that take pay cuts to try to win championship rings

Brady and Moss did it for the pats (didn't work out this year)

Malone and Payton (lakers didn't work either)

so maybe arenas is on to something I want a ring so I am going to take more money (lol)

  3. if he wants a title, he'll have to go somewhere else..IMO he's not a franchise player

  4. It's no coincidence that Duncan has done something like that before so that the franchise could get more talent with greater ease.

  5. I guess I hadn't really thought about that. That is a Great point!!!!

Imagine----LeBron James is being payed enough by Nike. If he accepted a small salary to play for... any Playoff contender they all of a sudden become contenders!

The only thing is that when all that money is on the table in front of you, it would be had to turn it down.
